According to official reports, Jota was driving a Lamborghini alongside his brother André Silva (a player for Portuguese club Penafiel) on the A-52 highway near Zamora, Spain. During an overtaking maneuver, one of the rear tires reportedly burst, causing the vehicle to lose control, crash, and flip before bursting into flames.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, but both men were found deceased inside the burned vehicle, confirming their death on the spot.

Diogo Jota’s Life and Career

Born on December 4, 1996, Jota began his football journey with Paços de Ferreira before transferring to Atlético Madrid, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and then Liverpool in 2020 in a deal worth approximately £41 million.

Over his Liverpool career, Jota made 182 appearances, scoring 65 goals, and played a key role in helping the Reds secure the 2024–25 Premier League title, along with the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Internationally, he represented Portugal in 49 matches, contributing to their UEFA Nations League victories in 2019 and 2025.
